Interstate 70 crosses Colorado for 450 miles, from the Utah line west of Grand Junction to the Kansas line at Burlington, and in between it climbs through Glenwood Canyon, over Vail Pass and into the Eisenhower–Johnson Memorial Tunnel at 11,158 feet — the highest point on the Interstate Highway System. The eastern half runs flat and straight across the plains, so the two ends of the drive routinely have nothing in common with the middle.
